The legend of „Fantôme“

The most delicate of my paintings was inspired by a trip to Normandy. Historic beaches, high cliffs, Atlantic wind, but also charming villages, ubiquitous order, harmony and endless spaces interspersed with narrow, often winding roads, where you can sometimes see castles hidden behind walls.

The most beautiful of them – Château de Fréfossé – is located in Tilleul, near Étretat.
The place is shrouded in legend, telling the dark story of the former owner, Baron de Fréfossé and three sisters, residents of the village. The baron, whose attentions were refused, decided to take revenge, and women, fearing his anger, hid in the rock. They never got out of it. Their ghosts later haunted the Baron, Château de Fréfossé and the cliffs of Étretat, where supposedly their cry can be still heard on foggy, windy days.

My „Fantôme“ is a ghost. Good one.
